Arjo Australia wins excellence in sustainability award for revolutionary healthcare initiative

Arjo Australia has been awarded the Excellence in Sustainability Award for its ground-breaking Arjo ReNu reprocessing solution, which transforms healthcare sustainability through innovative medical device reprocessing. The award recognises organisations demonstrating exceptional leadership in sustainable business practices and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Arjo ReNu is Australia's first TGA-certified and ISO-accredited single-use and non-invasive medical device reprocessing facility for devices such as Deep Vein Thrombosis prevention garments. Since its launch in May 2023, it has achieved remarkable results, including reprocessing a large number of medical devices, diverting waste from landfills, and cutting carbon omissions.

"This award validates our commitment to revolutionising healthcare sustainability," said Michael Luxton – President, APAC. "Our chemical-free pasteurisation technology and comprehensive approach to sustainability are setting new standards for environmental responsibility in healthcare."

The program has partnered with several private and public hospitals across Australia, demonstrating strong industry adoption. Arjo ReNu's cost-neutral model and proven environmental benefits have positioned it as a leader in healthcare sustainability solutions.

Looking ahead, Arjo plans to expand its annual capacity to over one million items and introduce reprocessing capabilities for additional medical devices, further reducing the healthcare sector's environmental impact.
