Arjo strengthens leading position in patient handling by introducing the new Maxi Move 5 patient floor lift
Arjo, a global leader in medical device technology, today announces the launch of Maxi Move 5®, the latest generation of one of the company’s best-selling products. The new top-of-the-line mobile patient floor lift features several innovative technical solutions designed to help reduce caregiver injuries and optimize efficiencies in care situations.
For five decades Arjo has been driving innovation within mobile patient floor lifts and remains in a leading position in the patient handling segment, and once again breaks new ground with Maxi Move 5. Patient handling remains one of Arjo’s core product categories, representing approximately 26% of the company’s total sales in 2024, which makes it the single largest category within the full portfolio.
The launch of Maxi Move 5 is the second major product launch from Arjo in 2025, following the Symbliss® bath system introduced earlier this year.
“With Maxi Move 5 we strengthen our market position and reaffirm our dedication to improving patient care and caregiver safety,” says Niclas Sjöswärd, Interim President and CEO at Arjo.
“We are well positioned in this area and Maxi Move is already one of our best-selling products. This makes us convinced that this new generation patient floor lift, with more advanced features, will be the preferred choice for many care providers around the globe,” he continues.
Maxi Move 5 is intended for lifting, transferring and repositioning patients and residents within both hospitals and long-term care settings. It can also be used to facilitate hygiene care and rehabilitation exercises.
“Patient transfers represent a significant cause of work-related injuries among nurses and therapists, and we are very proud to bring this new product from our iconic Maxi Move brand to the market that helps reduce this risk. Our new Maxi Move 5 sets a new standard for reduction of manual force and effort associated with patient transfers, while at the same time taking patient safety and comfort to the next level,” says Anders Rosenlöf, Senior Director, Global Product Category Management, Patient Handling at Arjo.
The comprehensive range of unique features and functions includes the new Arjo Motion Assist®. Operated via touch sensors on the caregiver handle that react to the carer’s push, pull and pivoting motions, it enables efficient, controlled and intuitive transfers, with minimal effort from the caregiver. In addition, the Powered Dynamic Positioning System enables accurate seated positioning, supporting care flow efficiencies during transfers operated via the hand control or control panel.
An independent clinical lab study1 shows that Maxi Move 5 reduces the accumulated forces required to complete a patient transfer by up to 68%, compared with competitor devices included in the study.
Currently available in the United States, Germany, France and the Netherlands, Maxi Move 5 is scheduled to be launched in about 40 countries by the end of 2025.
“We are thrilled to see the initial responses from our US customers, including the positive feedback on the new motion assist feature. By building on our strong legacy within patient handling, we can continue help care providers run their operations even more efficiently, and ultimately drive healthier outcomes,” says Jessica Shatzer, Vice President Marketing, Arjo US.
