Enhancing the Veteran’s Journey: A Deep Dive into Arjo's Veterans Mobility Gallery

2024-10-08T09:00:00.0000000Z

Arjo is proud to introduce the Veterans Mobility Gallery, an initiative that reflects our commitment to supporting the Veterans Affairs Administration. This gallery isn't just a collection of stories; it's a homage to the courage, resilience, and diverse needs of our veterans from all branches of the military — Marine Corps, Air Force, Navy, Army, and the Coast guard — illustrated through the personalized mobility journeys of five representative characters.

This exhibit uses a distinct color scheme to indicate the level of support required by caregivers, thus aiding in immediate visual comprehension of their condition. They range from those embodying self-sufficiency to those requiring significant assistance, and their clothing color – from Albert's low-risk green to Emma's high-demand red – provides an at-a-glance understanding of their needs.

This gallery is an invitation to explore the full spectrum of the veteran’s experiences, aligning with Arjo's mission to provide supportive, dignified care to those who have served.

Veterans Mobility Gallery

Albert - Fully self-supporting
The gallery opens with Albert, whose narrative is inspired by the indomitable spirit of Marine Corps veterans. Albert, through his use of prosthetics, symbolizes the adaptive resilience required to overcome new mobility challenges, embodying the ethos of 'Semper Fidelis'—always faithful.

Barbara - Mostly self-supporting, only needs guidance in transfers and hygiene
Barbara's story pays tribute to the Air Force community, focusing on the transition from acute injury to recovery. Her journey underscores the importance of rehabilitation and the determination to fly high once again, aligning with the Air Force motto of 'Aim High – Fly-Fight-Win.'

Carl - With support, can manage standing and hygiene tasks
Representing the Navy, Carl's experience with a sports wheelchair mirrors the life of a sailor navigating through the challenges of partial mobility. His story is a testament to the Navy's core value Honor, Courage, Commitment.

Doris - Unable to sit unsupported, is dependent on caregivers for transfer and hygiene tasks
Doris embodies the Army's spirit, illustrating the complexities faced by veterans with severe mobility restrictions. Her dependence on comprehensive support services underscores the Army's resolve, 'This We'll Defend,' highlighting the critical role of supportive care in maintaining dignity and enhancing quality of life.

Emma - Fully dependent upon her caregivers for all transfers and hygiene tasks
Lastly, Emma represents the Coast Guard veterans, focusing on those with significant mobility and cognitive challenges. Her narrative is a poignant reminder of their ‘Always Ready’ approach, emphasizing the comprehensive care and support required to nurture well-being and dignity in later stages of life.

Each character in the Veterans Mobility Gallery represents a facet of the veteran experience, from independence and resilience to the need for comprehensive support. This initiative mirrors Arjo's dedication to enhancing the lives of veterans by providing tailored mobility solutions that acknowledge their service and sacrifice.
