The Arjo Ergocoach Programme
This clinical consulting programme combined with a 5 day CPD accredited Ergocoach course is designed to work in partnership with an organisation to embed cultural change in patient handling. ‘Insight’ assessments identify mobility levels of patients/residents, current equipment availability (and condition) and transfer choices made by carers, enabling recommendations for best practice.
The subsequent Ergocoach Course equips identified carers with skills that will enable them to become coaches and ambassadors in safe patient handling and mobility within their own facility.
Strategic Advisors with the responsibility for managing safe patient handling are able to take ownership of the educational element of the programme within their own organisation through a peer review process by the Arjo Consultant.
Equipment Skills
Education sessions which focus on developing caregiver skills to identify the purpose, correct use and appropriate application of patient handling equipment such as standing/turning devices, active & passive hoists, slings and slide sheets. Practical skills assessment records are completed for individual delegates during training.
Foundation Principles of Patient Handling
Tailored to the needs of the organisation over the desired duration, these sessions aim to educate caregivers in the foundation principles of safe patient handling, promoting mobility, understanding the importance of mobility in reducing caregiver risk and Haptonomics (the science of touch in promoting mobility and normal movement patterns).
The validated and evidence based Arjo Handbook of Transfers is used as the resource for all practical transfers.
Management of Plus Size People
This CPD accredited study day, based upon a mixture of evidence based practice, case study presentations and practical hands on sessions, aims to enable caregivers to identify solutions for the management of a plus size person within various health and social care environments.
Robust documentation is completed for all education sessions including records of education and certificates of attendance.
