Arjo enters into distribution agreement with BrainLit, a lighting technology company focused on improving health, welfare and productivity

Arjo has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Brainlit, a Swedish innovative lighting technology company. BrainLit’s BioCentric Lighting™ system is an advanced, feedback-driven, self-learning system that creates natural light environments that contribute to improved health and wellbeing.

Over the past decade, scientific research has made leaps forward in terms of understanding the critical influence of natural light to our health and wellbeing. The adverse effects of limited exposure to natural light is profound in care environments where patients and residents are generally weakened and spend majority of their days inside. The adverse effects of limited exposure to natural light are many and significant including, fragmented sleeping patterns, lower immune defence activity, increased fall risk and cognitive deterioration.

By collecting data from sensors measuring how much light an individual is exposed to as well as data from individual health sensors measuring e.g. sleep quality, body temperature, resting heart rate, activity pattern or posture, BrainLit’s solution develops a target light recipe for each individual and automatically adjusts light sources to provide optimum natural light exposure.

"This is an exciting opportunity for us as we are bringing a completely new category into our portfolio. As a mobility outcome partner to healthcare providers we have a holistic perspective on solving our customers’ issues, and BioCentric Lighting is highly relevant to improve a number of health conditions associated with mobility," says Joacim Lindoff, President & CEO of Arjo.

BrainLit’s solutions will initially target the long-term care segment, starting in North America and Western Europe.

"We truly value this new agreement with Arjo. With Arjo’s world-wide sales network we will be able to bring products to the market that are real front runners when it comes to improving people’s health and well-being. Care receivers and their families represent one of the key user groups for our upcoming products, and this aligns very well with Arjo’s focus as well. We’re very happy to start this collaboration with Arjo," says Niclas M Olsson, CEO of BrainLit.
