Arjo subsidiary wins The Queen’s Award for Innovation

Huntleigh Diagnostics, a Cardiff based subsidiary of Arjo, is a winner of this year’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation, the most prestigious UK award for British businesses. The prize is awarded for Huntleigh’s new range of Digital Handheld Dopplers.

The Queen's Award confirms the Group’s ability to combine modern design with the highest quality and performance. The new Digital Handheld Dopplers offer an innovative solution for allowing clinicians to clearly see vascular waveforms as well as hear digital audio sounds. The Dopplers offer a reliability that both clinicians and their patients can depend on, and that ensures an easier, safer and more efficient process.

In 2018, Arjo reorganized its global product development function to facilitate increased co-location and a higher degree of efficiency. Implementing these measures enables Arjo to leverage existing resources to better supply the market with more new products and enhance value for its customers. As part of the reorganisation, Arjo has strengthened its Research and Development resources at the Cardiff site, and has become an important innovation hub and platform also for the Group’s VTE and Pressure Injury solutions. The Cardiff site employs more than 60 engineers and through its deep expertise and ability to develop highly innovative products, Arjo can ensure meeting the healthcare industry’s future demands.

“We are both honored and proud of this recognition. This marks a significant achievement for our team in Cardiff and confirms that we are developing innovative products that offer our customers an excellent experience through both performance, functional benefits and a desirable design,” says Joacim Lindoff, President & CEO of Arjo.

Peter Cashin, Managing Director, Huntleigh Diagnostics, adds that “we are very pleased that we have been acknowledged with this prestigious award. Cardiff is nurturing a highly stimulating R&D organisation and this award recognizes both the Group and our employees’ innovation and creativity.”
